Helping to Establish Positive Co-Parenting Relationships
When parents end their intimate relationship, they face the challenge of continuing to communicate and make agreements for the benefit of their children. When they can get help to do this well, the whole family can move on to a new chapter in their lives. But often they need help.
Counseling separated parents, and mediating their agreements can be challenging work. With specialized training, therapists can provide the steady and reasoned guidance that helps co-parents forge new agreements and transition their family together. This training is packed with tools and information to help you be a skillful facilitator to these families in need.
Topics Covered:
This workshop will cover multiple subject areas, including:
- What are the different dynamics in divorce that can interfere with successful co-parenting? And how can those dynamics be addressed clinically?
- What are the needs of children with separated parents? How do those needs vary with age? And how can co-parents stay focused on their children during difficult family transitions?
- What is the difference between mediation and counseling? And how can these two functions be combined or separated as needed by different families?
- What role does communication coaching play in helping couples transition from marriage to co-parenting?
- What agreements do co-parent need to make, and how can they be helped to get through impasses along the way?
