Working Effectively with Teens

In this training mental health professionals will deepen their understanding of effectively working with teenagers. Engaging with adolescents requires a distinct approach compared to working with adults or younger children. Adolescents are in a unique developmental stage characterized by significant emotional, psychological, and social changes and therefore require a specialized approach to foster trust and openness.

In this workshop you will engage with the tools and techniques necessary to establish trusting and productive relationships with teenagers and address the common challenges faced when working with teens who may exhibit resistance or reluctance to engage in therapy. This workshop provides practical strategies to help professionals reach through this resistance and foster a more open and communicative relationship.

This workshop also addresses how to manage your own apprehensions about engaging with a resistant or uncommunicative teenager. It’s not uncommon for therapists to feel uneasy or frustrated when faced with a teenager who seems uninterested or confrontational.
